Teletext Reshuffles Management Ahead Of Digital Investment

New Teletext Management Teletext has announced three major new management appointments ahead of a drive to extend its digital media offering over the coming months.

The appointments see Ash Makkar join the firm as head of marketing, while Ray Mason joins as managing director for TeletextHolidays.co.uk and Stephen Dunk joins as deputy managing director of Teletext Holidays on TV.

Commenting on the appointments, which prelude increased investment by Teletext throughout 2006, Mike Stewart, managing director of the company, said: “2006 is an important year for Teletext as the business increases its investment in new revenue streams and further develops its range of services and business opportunities for customers.

“Making three such important appointments at this time is a fantastic way to start the year and signals our intention to grow the business in the digital age whilst maintaining existing services such as Teletext Holidays’ leading position in the market.”

New marketing boss Makkar joins Teletext with overall responsibility for development of the firm’s marketing activities, including research and public relations. Makkar also assumes control of Teletext’s ongoing brand work with Clemmow Hornby Inge, and the continued development of the Teletext Holidays and non-holidays brand portfolios.

Prior to joining Teletext, Makkar worked on new business development at St Luke’s Communications, with high profile clients including Channel 4, HMV and AS Watson. The new marketing boss has also worked as Brand Director at BSkyB, working on Sky’s re-launch and repositioning programme.

The new role as managing director for Teletextholidays.co.uk will see Mason developing the range of travel offers on the website, as well as expanding the number of regular visitors, currently totaling three million unique users per month.

Stephen Dunk was formerly advertisement sales director at the Telegraph Group, bringing experience of running a large sales department to Teletext with an emphasis on growing both audience figures and revenues generated through Teletext Holidays on the enhanced Sky and Freeview platforms.
