TV market round-up: December 2014

The festive month posted a mixed bag of results for commercial television channels, with ITV Breakfast coming out on top.

A 12.2% year on year increase saw the channel surpass revenue of 4.1 million, while ITV’s 9.8% YoY improvement boosted revenue to almost 118.2 million.

Elsewhere, Channel 4 was down -2.8% on the previous year, while Channel 5 was down a marginal -0.5%.

Overall total terrestrial channels, including ITV Breakfast, were up 5.5% YoY, recording revenue of almost 186.7 million, while total satellite was up a decent 10.6% to secure £132.5 million.
