Two New BBC Entertainment Shows

Two New BBC Entertainment Shows

BBC Logo Jay Hunt, controller, BBC daytime and early peak, has commissioned two new entertainment shows intended to bring some “springtime sparkle” to daytime on BBC One and BBC Two.

Pop icon Donny Osmond will host Identity, billed as the ultimate mind-game from Reveille for BBC Two.

Already a hit in the US, this intense game of impulse and reasoning stretches the contestants’ powers of judgement, perception and instinct as they attempt to match 12 complete strangers with their secret identities. The more strangers they identify, the more cash they win.

Dirty Rotten Cheater is a brand new quiz format from Distraction for BBC One. Brian Conley (Let Me Entertain You) asks the questions as contestants compete for a prize. The twist is that one of the contestants already knows all the answers.

The honest players have to expose the Dirty Rotten Cheater to stand a chance of winning.

Hunt said: “We’ve taken a fresh look at entertainment on daytime and we will be launching a number of new shows this year.

“We couldn’t be more excited about Donny joining the BBC daytime line-up and it’s great to be working with Brian again after the success of Let Me Entertain You.”

Dirty Rotten Cheater is a BBC Entertainment, London production and Identity a BBC Entertainment, Manchester production. The shows will debut on BBC One and BBC Two, respectively, later this year.

Last week, Sir Michael Lyons, a former market trader and council chief executive, was named as the new BBC chairman (see Lyons Confirmed As New BBC Chairman).
