UK TV ad revenue to grow 10%

A new Enders Analysis forecast predicts UK TV net advertising revenue will grow 10% year on year in 2010.

The market is likely to be boosted by activity around this summer’s FIFA World Cup, Enders said, with the 10% forecast a big improvement on the previously expected 4%.

“It is reasonable to expect year-on-year television net advertising revenue growth of 14% to 15% in the first half of 2010,” said Enders.

The TV ad market was up 10% year on year in December, the research firm said, although it slowed to just 1% growth in January 2010.

Last week, Screen Digest forecast that UK TV advertising will grow 4.6% this year, with 7% growth in the first half of the year.

It said that all the major TV broadcasters will end 2010 with significant increases in TV ad revenue after “an admittedly terrible 2009”.
