Virgin Media content chief to step down

Virgin Media Logo Malcolm Wall, chief executive of Virgin Media’s content division, is to leave the company next month.

The news follows reports that Virgin Media is to sell its content business (see Virgin Media could sell content division in next few weeks).

Virgin Media’s content division, thought to be worth about £500 million, includes assets such as the company’s 50% stake in UKTV, ad sales house IDS and channels including Living.

Neil Berkett, Virgin Media chief executive, said: “Malcolm’s long experience in broadcasting, combined with an acute understanding of the changes that are taking place in the industry, have helped steer our content business into the digital age.

“On behalf of Virgin Media, I wish him every success for the future.”
