Virgin Signs Ordinary Boy Preston For Sunday Show

Preston's Face Virgin Radio is continuing its strategy of acquiring celebrity hosts, bolstering its line up with Celebrity Big Brother star Preston, signing the Ordinary Boys front-man to host a series of Sunday afternoon shows.

Preston will take to the air waves this weekend, hosting a 4-7pm show playing classic tracks from the bands that inspired him, as well as interviewing live guests and airing the best new music from bands currently in the album charts.

Commenting on his new role, Preston said: “Being in a band means music is a massive part of my life – the chance to be a DJ on a station like Virgin Radio is one in a million, I can’t wait.”

Paul Jackson, programming director at Virgin Radio, added that Preston’s next step was clearly the transition to hosting his own show. “He has now grown to become a mainstream personality,” he explained, “so we’ve invited him to bring that personality to the Virgin airwaves, it’s going to be unmissable radio.”

In the last 12 months Virgin has worked hard to improve the celebrity status of its hosts, with Sony Award winning Christian O’Connell joining the Breakfast Show, cult comedian Al Murray holding down his own Sunday afternoon show, and Suggs keeping listeners entertained with Weekend Party Classics.
