Western Europe To Lead Boom In Online Exports

The cross-border e-marketplace will be worth $408 billion by 2004, with global online exports totalling $1.4 trillion, according to a new report from Forrester Research. Western Europe, which will account for $692 billion of online exports by 2004, will lead the boom; the US will account for $210 billion and the Asia-Pacific region for $219 billion.

Forrester believes that e-marketplaces will prove key in this growth of online exports. In four yearsÂÂ’ time the cross-border e-marketplace in Western Europe will be worth $215 billion. In the US and Canada the online business-to-business market will be worth $1.5 trillion, but only 7% of this will come from exports.
