YouTube Is Most Popular Video Sharing Website In UK

YouTube is the most popular video sharing website in the UK, beating Google and MySpace, according to a report by HitWise.

The site takes a 60% share of the market, which is more than twice Google’s share and 10 times that of MySpace. YouTube’s dominance in Britain is even more complete than in the US, where it accounts for around 43% of the online video market.

Google takes second and third place in the UK, accounting for 16.63% of the UK market, and the country-specific Google Video UK ranks third with a 6.78% share of web visits.

MySpace video accounts for around 20% of the US market and is the clear second placed player in that country. It is the fourth most popular here, with a 5.49% share.

Video sharing sites offered by Yahoo!, AOL and MSN each take more than 2% of the UK market.
