Shares in Yorkshire Television took a leap this week following intense speculation that Granada is planning to buy a 20% stake in the company. Ordinary shares reached 172p, ending up at 165p.
Anglia Television has recorded a dramatic rise in profits for the year to December 31 1992. The pre-tax result increased from £8.3m in the same period last year to £14.5m, with the final dividend standing at 6.4p. This leaves total dividends at 9.26p. Turnover fell from £153.3m to £139.4m for the year.

Don Sperring, former joint managing director of Young & Rubicam, has given up his position at Independent Media Sales, leaving it in the hands of the other founder, Zed Zawada. Sperring has not given a specific reason for his departure.
The Independent revealed a new image today to celebrate its 2000th issue, sporting a new look for editorial and extra comment and analysis pages.The Independent on Sunday will undergo the same changes this month to develop a relationship between the daily paper, the Saturday edition and Sunday’s issue.
The Children’s Channel is the latest to join the encryption package at BSkyB. The satellite channel has yet to announce details of when the package will be introduced.
