Dame Shirley Porter will now concentrate all of her energies on the chairmanship of LBC, having announced that she is to resign from her position as a Westminster councillor.The station was taken over by the Porter family last month, following the financial demise of former owners, Crown Communications.

BSkyB has beaten ITV to the post with a $1.65m deal to screen Lennox Lewis’ defence fight for the world heavy weight crown. ITV is reported to have bid less than half this amount for the rights.

The owner of Business India magazine, Ashok Advani has bought out Euro- business magazine, the monthly title that closed in 1991. A relaunch is being planned for late April, and the owner is hoping to attract advertisers with the promise of a circulation of 30,000. Charles Raw will act as editor on the relaunched title.
A sponsorship deal has been set up with Britannia Music to back the radio coverage of the Brit Awards, covering the production costs in return for airtime on the 22 stations which are broadcasting it. The awards will cover an hour, the night before ITV broadcasts the event. The deal was organised by Unique Broadcasting.
